Madingley Hall and Church in Infrared

A set of images from Sunday at Madingley Hall and Church using a Sony RX100M3 converted to infrared. It is a small camera that produces good quality fairly high contrast infrared images (these are converted to monochrome direct from the infrared files without a dedicated profile).

Madingley Hall Infrared 1

Many years ago, I had my redundant first digital camera, a Canon 1D mkII, converted to infrared and Sunday it had its approximately annual outing. It produces very soft gentle images both in colour and converted to monochrome. Unfortunately I have only one battery that holds charge for a short while so I was also using the other end of the scale in size, weight and type of image, a Sony RX100M3 conversion which will feature in next Blog.

Autumn Bird Movement at Paxton

Plenty of signs of autumn migration at Paxton where possibly 4 Hobbies were busy catching late dragonflies over the lakes stocking up for their long journey south while the number of winter visiting ducks is building up with lots of Wigeon now whistling in lots of areas together with Gadwall r-resident and visiting. Marsh Harrier and Red kite patrolled the air and one of our resident Kingfishers visited a close post.

Garden Species List Continues

Some species from yesterday's garden session - never seen a colour morph of the Hairy Shieldbug before but pretty sure this is what it is. Still lots of species and fair numbers of many plant bugs and also Spiders. The caterpillar seems to be the Garden Tiger rather than Jersey T and the other hoary creature is a Larder Beetle larva. ID sheet at end.

Lakenheath Long-Lens Wildlife

I was using a long lens (800mm full-frame equivalent) to capture some of the more 'sensitive' wildlife at Lakenheath, including this Common Lizard (Zootoca vivpara) which should be common also at Paxton Pits but has yet to be definitely recorded I believe. The IDs for the rest are on the final image.
