Buzzard versus Rooks, Fieldfare and Redwings

The highlights of an autumnal circular walk Toft to Kingston were a buzzard being mobbed by Rooks and large flocks of Fieldfare and Redwings feeding on the berries. Still a couple of Hoverfly species feeding.

Lancaster Evening - 2. Reenactors Set the Scene

 Certainly a challenge to capture what I wanted with so many other photographers as the lighting position was rarely ideal for anyone - I was hoping for a lower angle to get better shadows etc. The actors who came along to the evening were amazing in their ability to keep still for up to 30 seconds.

 

Festival Park Basildon

On the walk across the car park to the Travelodge after speaking at Photofold club, I was struck by the bright colours reflected in the wet pavements. 

Autumn Colours at Wimpole but No Hawfinches

We had heard that flocks of Hawfinches had been seen at Wimpole Hall so we visited yesterday morning and enjoyed a walk in glorious sunshine with quite a few birds around but not the elusive Hawfinch - one day perhaps!!!

Avro Lancaster NX611- Moonlight and Floodlights

Phil and I went to East Kirkby Airfield on Friday to photograph the Lancaster that they are rennovating (his birthday treat!). We were fortunate with a full moon and clear night so lots of atmospheric shots lit only by moonlight until they turned the floodlights on for the staged scenarios with reenactors (to follow). The fourth shot is lit by an air ambulance that visited the airfield and joined the fun by lighting the plane from above. Last shot a low angle sunset shot that I also like.

 

Toft Village Fireworks

Great display of Fireworks at Toft last night on a beautiful starlit evening. Taken with a fisheye to give a feeling of the crowd enjoying the display.
