Moscow Metros

I took a lot of images in the Moscow Metro as there were no restrictions on photography other than finding space to raise the camera. The trains were generally dark green rather than London's red ones so monochrome conversions don't lose much impact and sort out the colour casts. Each station had its own theme - often with impressive sculptures and paintings. I will post a few more when I have sorted them.

Moscow Metro

The underground system in Moscow is amazing - the trains run every minute so there is no waiting for the next train. Many of the stations are exhibition halls for painting sculpture and mosaics. There are also no restrictions on taking photos. I am sure, except for the crowds around at times, I could have used a tripod. Here are four different stations showing the variety of lamps and pillar construction.

8.30 to Toy Town

Images taken with the Tilt and Shift lens showing the Toy Town effect you get with its narrow plane of focus. The lens was shifted and tilted for the second image.

Underground

Four images from a journey across London yesterday on the Underground including a couple more takes on Mind the Gap.

The fourth picture is taken when the Underground is overground which helps with the lighting. I think I enjoy photographing in the Underground because of the very cleans lines and limited colour palette.

The waiting game

A few images from my journey by train to Bath. All have an element of waiting.

The many repeated objects in the last image appealed as well as the cones

Fenland Railway

Some images of the Level crossing at Pymore - not sure how I will finally process and print the images but quite like this old feel to the photos - they remind me of the sort of prints that you see in some self-catering cottages that have been on the wall in the sun for a long time and faded

Travels with a Fish-Eye

Five images taken during my train journey to Bath.

The first two are of Royston station. The motion blur go-faster stripes painted on the train make it look as if it is moving but the lettering confirms that it is stationary.

The third image is St Pancras with the International terminus to the left. I like the complimentary colours in the brickwork and ironwork. Even the lady's suitcase matched.

The fourth image was taken on the Circle line to Paddington. I managed to get central to the open door and it was lucky that a person sat on each side of the frame and are both using ipods.

The fifth image is another take on 'Mind the Gap' with a Great Western train at Paddington. This one needs a larger image as ther are lots of interesting cameos inside the train.

Technicolour Train

Image for Brian from our trip to London on Monday - I think it is your camera in the bottom right of the picture - demonstrating the wide view!
