Wet Evening on Riverside

Only  Malcom (with a very clever tripod umbrella clamp), Paul (with his fancy torch), and I braved the fairly heavy rain for last night's Wednesday workshop at Riverside in Cambridge. Certainly no chance of star trails!! I used a fish eye and then a 18-55mm lens (different star burst effects), neither of which have an adequate hood but here are a few shots that I liked including one of several boats exercising up and down the river.

Wicken Fen RPS Visit

I kept my 100% record of interesting weather at Wicken Fen for RPS Nature Group visits with high winds, magnificent clouds and even a rainbow. In between this we managed some interesting birds. Some of the group got some great shots of the Hen Harrier female and Little Owl - mine come in the 'record' category! There were also fighting Coots, Kingfisher, Heron etc but all these at a 'distance'

Happy Christmas from London

Christmas Eve was very wet in central London - we took a walk past Waterloo Station onto the South Bank in pouring rain - good for reflections and umbrellas but limiting in the time we could stay out.

Storm Light and Trees at Lyveden NT

I stopped off at Lyveden Manor and New Bield in Northamptonshire and walked around the estate (house images to follow). There were some very dramatic skies throughout the couple of hours that I spent there - perfect to show off the winter trees.

Brandon CP in the Rain

Although rain arrived in the afternoon at Brandon, we continued with our exploration of Brandon and found quite a few more fungi to record. There were lots Fly Agarics, but mostly already eaten by slugs etc, and also the Aniseed Funnel, with its amazing jade colour. Other finds were the Yellow Stagshorn, Death Cap and the Purple Jellydisc.

Cromer Storm Clouds and Afternoon Light

After a beautiful sunny clear morning on Wednesday, storm clouds gathered at Cromer and we had a heavy rainstorm which cleared to give some very attractive late afternoon light.
