e-luminate in Cambridge

A few Members of CCC braved the chilly north winds on Sunday night to view the various buildings illuminated in the e-luminate Festival. It would have been good if the lights went on a bit earlier so there was light in the sky but a half moon helped give a bit of interest to the sky. All single shots on Fuji X-10 between 0.6 and 30seconds, with very little processing except the Fitzwilliam frontage which is a two-shot panorama (spherical projection).

CRUFC Hold onto the Lead in Tough Game

Cambridge scored 28 points in the first 15 minutes and then struggled for the rest of a very physical  game to win 28-22. Much of the game was spent on the ground or arguing with the referee!!

Watching the Skies - Radiotelescopes at Barton Cambridgeshire

Another impressive cloudscape day yesterday so visited the radiotelescope dishes at Barton. Mostly LR conversions but will try them all in SilverEfex sometime to give even more drama. Last image 7 vertical shot panorama.

Royston Heath

Some wonderful skies on a walk across Royston Heath yesterday morning. The skylarks were out in good numbers which is great to see and hear. Not so many golfers had braved the frosty conditions but it certainly is a course with a view.

Toft Mud, Wood and Potholes

The mild wet winter has resulted in good winter wheat growth generally but some very muddy fields, early catkins and daffodils, vibrant lichens and some very large potholes in our lanes in Toft

Garden Bird Count in Toft Cambridgeshire

We did the RSPB Garden Bird count on the 31st January and recorded a record number of goldfinches in a single flock for the year - 22 goldfinches lined up to visit the feeder. We also had 3 Bluetits, 4 Great Tits, 3 Greenfinches, 4 Chaffinches, 1 Blackbird male and female, 5 Jackdaws, 2 Rooks, 5 Pheasants, 3 Woodpigeons, 2 Collared doves, 1 Robin, 2 Dunnocks, 7 Long-Tailed Tits. If we include the field by the house  2 Buzzards feeding on worms, and c. 50 each of Fieldfares and Redwings). Posts a bit slow at the moment as ploughing through a mound of paperwork to claim for the items stolen from may car last week and repair to the car. Hopefully back on track soon!!
