Final 2020 images from Toft

Some images from yesterday's frosty misty walk around my local area. We saw several robins feeding on berries especially in frost-free areas deep in bushes. The frost was spasmodic often on one side of twigs or only on the tops of trees.

Castleton, Derbyshire - Shades of Green

I stopped in Castleton for a short while on my drive from Leeds area across to Chapel-en-Frith Camera Club on Wednesday. Mainly it was overcast but the sun broke through a few times to give great sculpturing to the views. Although not Ireland, there were certainly 40 shades of green.

Iris Time in the Beren

The irises in Tinch and John's garden in Toft are at their best at the moment - such a profusion of shapes and colours.

Summer at Paxton Pits

We visited Paxton Pits after about a month's absence and were amazed how the foliage has grown. There was very little evidence of the presence of all the birds that we know are breeding there. I did get this glimpse of a young robin as it hopped out of cover.
The Mallard duck was looking after eighteen ducklings - a huge family if they are all hers. Do Mallard run creches?
There was a Brown Hawker patrolling its territory - I managed a quick shot of the head before it shot off again.
The Arrowhead was in full bloom in the river but I liked the upright leaves best.
