Red Kites

We visited Watlington Hill on the way to talk at Wallingford Photographic Club and the Red Kites were in superb form. The first image was one of many where the kites came very close to inspect us. The bland sky was not in our favour. However, the good thing about being on the hill is that you can photograph the Kites against a background and you get top, underneath and sideway views.

Red Kites

We stopped near Watlington on our way to Newbury today and spent a while photographing the Red Kites in beautiful lighting.
Clouds built up later and the kites look great silhouetted against the sky.

Kites from the Thame Travelodge

These kites are probably the most dramatic view so far from my Travelodge series. The light was poor and the sky very featureless but still good to see their antics.

The Best of the Bunch

I have only just had time to sort through the Red Kite pictures and find the best of the many hundreds I took on the afternoon that we spent at Llandeusant. Mostly I have kept just the sharp images but there are some where the attitude of the bird is unusal and these have stayed (at the moment!)

Red Kite in Chilterns

We did a detour en route to Bath to photograph the red kites around the Stokenchurch area. Amazing birds - sometimes a dozen in the sky at once - well worth a visit.
This is from one of the small jpeg file so will post the best of the conversions later.
