I took a walk on the beach at Holland-on-Sea prior to giving a lecture at Clacton CC (thanks for the warm welcome). This lies between Clacton and Frinton and has a character all of its own with wide expanses of sand and shingle banks. I got distracted by the excellent Beach Cafe but still had time for a few creative shots and the sunset.

Wells-Next-The-Sea
On the last morning of our short Norfolk break, we visited Wells and tried the last of the techniques on Jonathan's list - various camera movements and double exposures. The first is an in-camera double exposure, moving the camera during one of the exposures. The second image is a composite of an ICM and a static shot.
Other images of the beach to compare with previous visits. At low tide there is vastly more expanse of sands exposed and the isolated sand dunes are very small now compared with 2008 (https://pin-sharp.blogspot.com/2008/10/shifting-sands.html). The lagoon is now dry at low tide in contrast to 2009 (https://pin-sharp.blogspot.com/2009/09/september-summer-day-at-wells.html).Monday, July 30, 2018
Saunton Sands in Rain and Sun
On Sunday, having fed the animals that we are looking after for week (24 sheep, 3 goats, some Hens, a duck and 2 cats), we went to nearby Braunton for tea and then for a walk on Saunton sands. It had been raining all day and there were still showers around which gave great backdrops for the Kite surfers etc.

Interesting Weather at Dovercourt 1. Beach Huts
Appropriate that, after lecturing on photographing in all weathers the evening before, yesterday should have produced a lot of the wet and windy kind. Several rainbows during the morning with bright sunshine and great cloud formations, interspersed with rain and sleet. First the beach huts with that iconic lighthouse to follow!

Supermoon Views at Mablethorpe
When I realised we would be at the seaside for the Supermoon on November 13/14th, I wondered what I could get in the foreground to give an idea of scale. Difficult as nothing is far enough away to get in focus with the moon but here some attempts as the moon rose on November 13th evening, changing from red to white as it rose higher.
Monday was cloudy but I managed to catch the moon setting on Tuesday morning and again looked for things to give scale. Using 560mm lens equivalent allowed an idea of the size of this supermoon - the largest and brightest since 1948 apparently.

Mablethorpe: Beach Huts and Starfish at Sunrise
Mablethorpe is replacing some of its older beach huts with new ones - available to buy for £12000. I had fun photographing along the promenade as the sun came up and also on the beach where large numbers of starfish and razor shells had been washed up.
