Norway - Myrland Peninsular

The sun came out briefly on Monday afternoon giving different light to work with. Had fun with the 8mm Fish-eye - needs a bit more correction than I can do in Lightroom Raw. A bit of a play with B/W - will look forward to processing in Silver Efex when back.

Norway - Haukland Beach

As with my last trip to Lofotens, our first photographic site was Haukland Beach. These are a mixture of wide angle (10-24) and Fish-eye (8mm) images - the more instense the colour, the longer the exposure with longest 30 secs. The upper beach was very icy so stayed clear of this after Jane's experience 3 years ago.

Walk Around Leknes - Playing with Colour

As there were still a couple of hours of daylight left yesterday, I took a walk out of Leknes to reacquaint myself with the wonderful colours that the Lofoten landscapes offer. Not really a sunset but the strip of yellow added another hue to the scene.

Seasonal Greetings

Wishing everyone the best for the festive break and for 2016.

Hopefully there will be some new toys in the Christmas stocking and lots of opportunity to use them in the coming year..

Rejoicing in my good fortune to be healthy, well fed, with all my family around me and  able to enjoy life in safety and comfort.

Hoping for a more equal and peaceful world in 2016.

Last Photos from the Lofoten Islands

I had been wanting to visit the race course in Leknes ever since I spied it on our first day in Lofoten. The leaders declared the grey weather no good for photography and it might snow so most stayed in the hotel but Jane and I found our way to the race course and were rewarded with some trotting on ice. The horses have ice spikes on their hooves and travelled very fast.
Monday it snowed hard and so our afternoon flight was delayed three hours while the snow ploughs got to work.

A Frozen Fjord, Lofoten Islands

No colourful sunrise on Sunday morning but I enjoyed capturing the subtle pinks of this frozen fjord location. Unfortunately we didn't have very long there to fully explore its potential.

Northern Lights over Utakleiv Beach, Lofoten Islands

Saturday was completed with a fabulous display of Northern Lights. We photographed these first from Utakleiv Beach and then moved to Haukland for a second shoot (images to follow). There was a near full moon lighting the mountains and reflecting off the crest of the waves.
