Locked Down Cambridge Market

Some images from a visit to Cambridge Market on Monday (19th), the day when slight easing of restrictions came into force. The Market is dominated by fast food outlets and customers well regulated with Stewards present to ensure rules are adhered to. Sad to see Don Pasquale all boarded up.

Close Up on Spiders and Beetles

The top of our plastic storage bins attracts lots of invertebrates as it warms quickly in the sun. Here a Zebra Jumping Spider pursues an Ant-like Flower Beetle plus Red mite, 22- and 20-spot Ladybirds plus a nearby Rosemary Beetle. Images 1, 2,  5, 6 and 9 are focus stacks of 10 images each, handheld.

First 2021 Visit to Central Cambridge

We needed to visit the Building Society in Cambridge and took the opportunity to photograph Cambridge in the spring sunshine.

Bee Flies

The warm sunshine yesterday brought out the Bee Flies and several other flies and insects in the carden. The bright directional light late in the afternoon made photography difficult but produced this wonderful shadow.

Cambourne Business Park

A bit of distraction photography after the supermarket errand this morning but in very poor light and very windy. I had fun setting a recipe in Nik Color Efex that gives an interesting result with the chosen set of images.

Wildlife Garden Progress (6)

I redesigned my wildlife garden in January 2020 and did regular reports through the year. I intend to continue this as I attempt to expand the overall range of species. The first image shows Salad Burnet, Corncockle, Knapweed, Plaintain, Trefoil, Buttercup. One area has been dug, raked and sown with various new species. The main wildflower beds are showing healthy plants of Knapweed, Red Campion, Foxgloves. The other areas - grassland meadow, shade area, pond, bee-attracting border and bee houses are all waiting for the warmer weather to flourish.
