Tate Modern

We visited the Tate Modern in London on a very hot day. It is the first time that I have visited the Galleries since photography was allowed and so had great fun shooting people and artwork. I also did a bit of slow shutterspeed work and particularly liked the last image - the result of knocking the camera during a 15sec. exposure.

Infrared Miscellany from Cambridge

A few infrared images grabbed during a teaching session in Cambridge yesterday to show some of the final images you can end up with depending on the initial exposures and the processing techniques used.

Magpie Day

We had a tour round ST. James Stadium and guess what - everything is black and white.

Steps and Tunnels

Newcastle being built on hills has lots of steps and tunnels.

Tynemouth Beach

Beautiful sunny afternoon at Tynemouth. Views of beaches, old swimming pool, fulmar and people enjoying the location.

Newcastle Saturday night

Only a handful of people came to watch Tom Daley win his bronze. Newcastle folks were much too busy partying in the night clubs. We walked through town to the Northumberland University East campus and took some night shots. Not sure if I prefer monochrome or colour.

Tynemouth Market

We took the bus to Tynemouth and visited the market in Tynemouth Metro station. IT is a great setting for the market and there were lots of interesting people and views to be taken.

Reflections on the Tyne Two

A second go at the reflections. No real sunset tonight as there was a heavy bank of cloud on the horizon but the water was stiller. The first image was taken at 21.20 and the last at 21.42 so there is such a short window to capture the balanced light conditions.

People Day

We bought a Metro Day card and went to Sunderland, then to South shields where there was a bric a brac market, across the Tyne by ferry to North Shields and then back to Newcastle. I tried a bit of candid people photography - not an easy thing where no-one else had a camera.
