Sunset Walk to Hardwick Wood

I walk up to and explore Hardwick wood  on average once a week - the terrain is unusually hilly for Cambridgeshire so there are always enjoyable views with wide skies and at around 3.5miles round trip fulfils my daily exercise quota. Yesterday I did the walk later in the afternoon so the sun set as I was in the wood giving a dramatic setting for the large number of fungi there at the moment including large Geotropes (Clitocybe geotrope) and Parasols

Hunstanton Beach

This pair of Common Seal pups were left on the boulders at Hunstanton as the tide receded on Saturday afternoon. Although not distressed, I was worried about their safety with a lot of dogs and people on the beach so contacted the Seal Rescue unit and someone arrived to assess the situation. Being a very low tide, contact of the mother with the pups was particularly difficult. I don't know whether the pups were guarded in situ or transported off the beach to the recovery centre but hopefully all was well with them. Very dramatic lighting all afternoon and the heavy rain eventually arrived in the night.

Spiders at Sunset Part 1

So far dawn has not been suitable for macro photography by the fishing lakes as there have been strong winds but a couple of evenings have been great for sunset photography. Here a selection of spider images incorporating the sunset from Thursday evening. These were without flash fill in. Part 2 from Friday used fill-in flash.
