Storm Light and Trees at Lyveden NT

I stopped off at Lyveden Manor and New Bield in Northamptonshire and walked around the estate (house images to follow). There were some very dramatic skies throughout the couple of hours that I spent there - perfect to show off the winter trees.

Cromer Storm Clouds and Afternoon Light

After a beautiful sunny clear morning on Wednesday, storm clouds gathered at Cromer and we had a heavy rainstorm which cleared to give some very attractive late afternoon light.

Welney WWT Faces Up to Storm Dennis

I was very disappointed that I was not able to show off the delights of Welney in good light and pleasant working conditions to the Nature Group members, who came from many parts of the country to visit Welney WWT on Saturday, many taking part in the Swans Awake and Hares events. Here a few higher key images of the ducks and swans braving the wind and waves. The Little Egret made three attemps to cross the open water before finally making it. The swans, being a lot heavier, managed to navigate the open water but still often made several attempts to land.

Roundstone Galway Ireland

We are staying just outside Roundstone so I took a walk into the village yesterday morning as the family had gone to Galway for the day. The weather was sunny when I left but storm clouds arrived giving wonderful lighting.

Stormy Seas at Southend

I arrived in Southend on Tuesday just after lunch to get a bit of a walk before an evening lecture to Hadleigh Camera club (thanks for the usual warm welcome). It was high tide with intermittent rain and a gale force wind. After observing a few hardy souls biking and dog walking I got out of the car and braved the elements. Most of the shops and cafes were closed but some were open and a welcome relief from the wind and rain.

By 3 o'clock the rain had stopped and the sky cleared to show a glimpse of the moon as the lights came on.
