While running a one-to-one photocourse in Cambridge yesterday, we came across these ladies brightening up the town in every way. Thanks Chris for enlightening about the Red Hat Society. There are more than 40,000 chapters in American but also 100 chapters in UK (http://britishredhatters2.weebly.com/). They follow the opening lines of a popular poem by Jenny Joseph to dress 'disgracefully' and to have fun. They welcome new members so if you fancy dressing up, visiting lots of places and celebrating birthdays etc in style then visit their website (http://redhatsociety.com/).

Chesterfield Market
Chesterfield has a very large bric a brac market on Thursdays - the set of images I took seemed to be predominantly red and blue and went well with four Nottingham ladies shot on Tuesday.

Large Red Damselfly
A couple of Large Red Damselflies hatched from nymphs during yesterday afternoon. The one above emerged successfully but the one below failed to extract the wings completely. With today's cold wet weather, I doubt either will be successful in surviving to mate.

Balloon over Toft
The noise of the burner alerted us as this splendidly red balloon came right over our bungalow.
The light was so clear that you might even be able to recognise someone on board. It must have been a wonderful sight looking down from there. The balloon landed only a few fields away towards Comberton but there were trees masking my view of the touch down.

Norfolk Poppies
It is odd why just one field of rape seed should produce such a wonderful display of poppies while similar fields around have just a few red patches.
This one near Swaffham is one of the best I have seen and was just at its peak yesterday.
Although the hairs show up best on a sunny day, yesterday's dull conditions worked OK with backlighting and there weren't the usual bright shiny areas to detract.
