King's Cross, London - Diversity

The extensive development of the King's Cross and Regent's Canal area of London makes photography very exciting and yet stressful for me - so many shapes and colours and action! I mainly concentrated on wide angle scenes as in my previous post, but I also did some multiple exposure and architectural studies and yet couldn't resist some portraits and, of course, cats!!

Art at Botanic Gardens

 On our CCC trip to Cambridge Botanic Gardens, I was distracted from my initial ideas of leaf shapes etc to take images of the plants as they pushed up against the greenhouse windows and by participants on a Botanical Illustration Day. The first image has been processed through Color Effex; all the others are Lightroom-only adjustments. The Olympus 50mm f1.8 legacy lens makes a wonderful portrait lens - very sharp and yet with a softening effect on the skin tones.

Silhouette Photography

Toft PhotoGroup ran an evening of silhouette photography ably led by these two combatants, Martin and Paul. We used various colour lights and I have processed them to give different effects. (Notes for future attempts: all images processed with masking plus topaz denoise; 1, 2 as taken, 3 b/w, 4 b/w background dehaze, 5, red background with colour reversal on red/cyan; 6 as taken; 7 as taken; 8 background colour reversal on?; 9,10 as taken)

Light Painting with Finger Lights

We found a box of finger lights forgotten from a previous project and the girls had great fun dancing and drawing with them. Sadie, as expected, was quite precise with her drawing - I like the two swans in the third image; Meredith was much more flambouyant. Single flash during5 second exposure.

 

Wrest Park Portraits: Alice in Monochrome

The other model at the workshop on Friday was Alice. I have chosen to present these in monochrome as the contrast of the red dress, blue wallpaper and cream and gold woodwork gave plenty of opportunity for contrasts and for hiding background distractions. (Colour image included at the end.)
