Peregrine St Albans Cathedral

Great to record the Peregrine falcon hopefully nesting on St Albans Cathedral - rather distant but unmistakable! The lakeside birds are all getting ready for breeding with many squabbles and displays.

Stanwick Lakes - Where Were All the Birds?

The very high water levels in the Lakes and the river Nene resulted in a lot fewer birds than previous visits. Coupled with overcast skies and strong winds meant we had a pretty sparse day as regards subjects to photograph though the feeders produced good opportunities including Muntjac deer.

. However, the group enjoyed a long walk round the reserve and a warming drink/lunch in the visitor centre

Paxton Cormorants, Herons and Egrets

Beautiful sunny morning for a visit to Paxton to test my telephoto lenses that has dried out after a couple of weeks in a warm airing cupboard. It appears to be functioning as before. The Cormorants, Herons and Little and Great Egrets were very active chasing each other around and very vocal!!
